It’s coming up to that time of year where you gather your mates and count down the Hottest 100 with the sun overhead and a cold bev in hand. Break out the Bluetooth speaker you got for Chrissy, because we’ve picked our top 10 tracks of the past year and found the perfect drinks to match.

WOW – Kwame

Do you know how Kwame rose to rap fame? He got picked out of the crowd at an A$AP Rocky gig and freestyled with the legend himself.

What better match for WOW than GOAT by Mountain Goat? It’s an uncomplicated, refreshing and enjoyable lager.

Give Me My Name Back – Meg Mac

2018 was a year of change and movement. From #MeToo to #TimesUp, voices are being raised and heard all over the globe.

An anthem that is as solid as this gal’s pipes, this track pairs well with a gimlet, served in the classic coupe glass. We recommend making Bombay Sapphire as your gin of choice.

Underwater – Rufus Du Sol

It was a tough choice picking our favourite track from SOLACE, but we narrowed it down to ‘Underwater’ because of the thumping beats and impressive vocals.

Listen to it and try and convince us it doesn’t warrant something fruity and refreshing, like an Absolut Botanik Berry and Lime.

1950 – King Princess

King Princess showed us exactly how boss she is with her debut single ‘1950.’ An effortlessly cool track that tugs a little at the heartstrings, we’re listening while we sip on a fresh mint julep.

Rip up your mint leaves to release those strong flavours and get yourself a bourbon like Wild Turkey.

Cheetah Tongue – The Wombats

What does Murph mean when he cuts off his cheetah tongue? Does he mean ‘cheater’ tongue? Does he speak too fast? We don’t know, but we do know that this jam is as close to psychedelic as The Wombats have gotten, and we love it.

We’re choosing the enjoyable Pirate Life Pale Ale to let this track shine.

Better Together – Hayden James and Running Touch

This track is fast becoming our anthem for the long days and hot nights of summer. ‘Running Touch’ adds a sensual, pop twist to James’ signature house pulse.

To match the theme, we suggest Tanqueray and Tonic, because they really are better together.

Better Now – Post Malone

Post Malone has well and truly dominated the airwaves over the last few months, so it’s only fair that he makes it in our top 10. ‘Better Now’ is one of the jewels from his second album and is probably playing on a radio near you right now.

There’s only one drink that goes with this song, and it’s obviously henny (Hennessy).

I Said Hi – Amy Shark

The chorus of this song, from homegrown Gold Coast artist Amy Shark. has been stuck in our heads so long we can hardly believe it came out in 2018.

Naturally, we need to match Amy with a beer that’s not only Aussie but 100% Queensland, which is why we’re unapologetically going with XXXX Gold.

Confidence – Ocean Alley

We’re pretty sure this one will make it to the top five at least. It’s a smooth song from an Aussie outfit that calls the Northern Beaches home.

To match the beachy vibe, we’re going to suggest a chilled bottle of Corona.

This is America – Childish Gambino

We’re calling it, this track is going to come in at number one, and for good reason. Not only is the song great, but the video offers a profound look at modern America.

To drink you’re going to want something undiluted, honest and with a kick - so let’s go for Donald Glover’s drink of choice, whiskey. We recommend Gentleman Jack to match his suaveness.
