How To Impress Your Friends With Just Three Ingredients

Cocktail making is an art. And like some art, there is such a thing as getting too carried away. But instead of breaking the bank on a couple of Cosmos, here are some three ingredient cocktails that save time, save money and save shelf space.

Three ingredient cocktails can be just as (if not more) delicious than even your most complicated mixologist concoction.

These three ingredient cocktails will make you the most popular cheapskate in town.

1. Martini

90mL Gin
15mL Dry Vermouth
1 olive

Martinis are those drinks that sound complicated but are actually the easiest to make. If you don’t have the type of friends who make incessant and obvious James Bond references, they’re the perfect thing to serve at your next gathering.

Just add the ingredients (except for the olive) into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake the dickens out of it. Strain it into a martini glass, and throw an olive in it. Boom. You’re now drinking fancy cocktails on a low budget. Make sure you pretend it was difficult to make so your friends are extra impressed.

2. Pomegranate Bellini

1 bottle Sparkling Rosé
200mL pomegranate juice
Frozen pomegranate seeds

Have you ever been sitting around at home and thought, “I wish one of my friends would invite me over for Bellinis”? A study by the Royal Institute of Bevvies has actually shown that this is a one of the number one problems young people face today (not really, but it should be a study).

Well, if you take the above three ingredients and mix them all into a punch bowl, stirring vigorously with a ladle, you can actually be that person for someone else. You’ll be making the world a better place. And that’s something you can’t take for pomegranted.

3. Moscow Mule

45mL vodka
5mL lime juice
150mL ginger beer

Oh heck, isn’t vodka nice? But don’t you just hate the looks people give you when you mix up a vodka cocktail instead of some other fancy-pants spirit. Like vermouth, or absinthe or something.

All you have to do is stir the above ingredients into a glass filled with crushed ice. Make sure you buy a real lime so you can use a slice of it as garnish. People love garnish. And if you really want to look like you know what you’re doing, serve it in a copper cup.

4. Bourbon Vanilla Shake

90mL vanilla ice cream
1tsp vanilla extract
45mL bourbon

This is a decadent treat. So decadent in fact, we hesitate to even give you the recipe. Why? Because this cocktail actually has the added feature of making you the most popular person in your suburb. Everyone will be coming to your house to try this. And you can’t have that. It’s a logistical nightmare.

Put the ingredients into a milkshake shaker and shake until it becomes milkshake-y.

The best thing about this cocktail is that it doubles as dessert. So not only are you saving money on ingredients, you also have an excuse to only serve one course at your next dinner party. There’s a cheapskate life hack for you.

5. Strawberry Daiquiri

2/3 cup frozen strawberries
30mL llme juice
60mL white rum

And now for the Grand Finale of this article. Whip out the blenders. Tick tock, it’s daiquiri O’ clock. And we’re using white rum, because it’s totally underrated in the world of sprits.

“Is it three ingredients?” I hear you ask? Well yes, dear reader, it is. So it’s time to stop asking questions and start making some cheap summer drinks.

All you do is throw them in the blender and blitz with ice until it becomes a smoothie. Pour into cocktail glasses and garnish with nothing. Because there is no garnish needed on something so beautiful.

So, here’re four ways to entertain your guests with just three ingredients. And remember, it’s not about how much money you spend, it’s how good you are at being fake-fancy.
