It’s Halloween. It’s time to celebrate with a party. A spooky party.

To throw the perfect Halloween party, you need to think sugary snack foods. Stock up on pizza, chips and American sweets like Hershey’s chocolate, Tootsie Rolls and Twinkies. Crank Michael Jackson’s Thriller, hang some coloured lights around the room and make sure there is plenty of fake blood to go around.

But what drinks should you serve at this spooky occasion? We've got some creepy (and super simple) cocktail recipes that your guests will love.

• 3/4 cup tequila
• 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
• 1 cup club soda
• 1/3 cup triple sec
• 4 cherries
• 4 teaspoons maraschino cherry syrup
• ¼ cup corn syrup
• green food colouring

This cocktail is easy to make, but it still looks awesome. Combine tequila and triple sec with lime juice, club soda and cherry syrup (add some cherries in there for the eyeball effect). The key to this cocktail is the green slime for the rim of the glass: a combo of green food colouring and corn syrup.

Caramel Apple Punch

• 1 red apple, thinly sliced
• 4 cups apple cider, chilled
• 1 1/4 cup spiced rum
• 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Caramel apples are a Halloween favourite. You only need four ingredients for this guy – non-alcoholic apple cider, spiced rum, lemon juice and red apple to garnish. This one is best made the night before your shindig.

Spooky Sunrise

• 125ml (1/2 cup) tequila
• 500ml (2 cups) chilled orange juice
• 1 1/2 tablespoons grenadine
• black salt
• 1 lime

A Tequila Sunrise is a popular mix – a simple concoction of tequila, orange juice and grenadine, garnished with an orange slice – but the way to make it spooky, is to add some black salt around the rim. Simple but effective.

Risen From The Grave

• ½ cup vodka
• 60mL St. Germain
• 1 handful ice
• 7mL strawberry puree
• Strawberry and mint leaf (for garnish)

Spooky! Combine the vodka and liqueur in a cocktail shaker with ice and pour the strawberry mushy stuff in the bottom of a martini glass. Pour mixture on top and garnish with some grass (not really – garnish with a mint leaf).

Candy Apple

• I bottle of dark beer
• I bottle of apple cider

Not a spirits fan? We’ve got a beer cocktail for you. Mix your favourite dark, malty brown ale with a very dry, crisp apple cider for a caramel, toffee-flavoured brew. Trust us!
