For anyone keen to pinpoint the most spectacular location in the beer-making scene, Eagle Bay Brewing Co is a strong contender. Perched on a hill in the Margaret River wine region, right at the tip of the north-western peninsula, the microbrewery, restaurant and vineyard are blessed with views of rolling farmland and the Indian Ocean. Set up as a business in 2010 by the three d’Espeissis siblings – Nick, the head brewer, Astrid and Adrian - the family run farm has become renowned for its handcrafted beers brewed in small batches and bottled on-site using a handful of key ingredients: freshly harvested rainwater, malted barley, yeast, hops and sunshine. They’ll occasionally throw in some local produce for special creations, but who’s going to argue with that?
