The Devil's Lair Margaret River Chardonnay showcases beautiful fruit flavours complemented with excellent minerality, great length and structure with subtle oak influences. It’s so delicate and refined yet still with that marvellous power. Light toast and minerals on the nose with a hint of grapefruit and white peach. The palate is impressively precise and fine but with flavour that penetrates and builds to a very long finish.
Devil’s Lair is an ancient cave in the south of the Margaret River region where evidence of life 50,000 years ago can be seen. The exact location remains a mystery to all but a few and those who are privileged enough to visit must do so in the company of a traditional elder. For Phil Sexton, a former archaeology student, it was the perfect name for the nearby winery he founded in 1985.
7/2/2023A heady nose of licorice, freshly baked pastry and crème caramel flank nectarines and baked apples. The palate explodes with intensity, a mix of fruit, earth and spice. Racy acidity cuts through the richness. It’s a hedonist's wine, up-front flavour is backed by impressive staying power and freshness. With age, it will gain composure
*Wine Rank: #14 of 118 - 2021 Chardonnay from Margaret River
