Product Details

This truly excellent example of Barossa shiraz comes from vines planted in 1894 and from one of the great wineries of the region. Deeply complex, with dark fruits and a decent splash of well-weighted oak. Blackberry and licorice, spices and dark chocolate are all in this wonderful statement of the best in the Barossa, delivered with a degree of finesse and style.

10/3/2014Deepish red colour with faint purple. Earthy, dusty and meaty charcuterie aromas with toasted nut, barrel-aged, but older oak characters. Rich, fruit-sweet, intense and powerful in the mouth, and doesn't rely excessively on oak character. Fruit-sweet middle, rich and dense, fleshy and delicious. An outstanding wine.

7/5/2014Deep red/purple - excellent colour. Savoury earthy, toasty developed, mellow bouquet, a touch of dusty earthiness and very savoury all round. Lots of drying, savoury tannins, some baked or cooked fruit, almost overripe hints. A massive wine: very full-bodied and firm. Rich and dense in the mouth. Will seemingly cellar long-term.

26/8/2025Deep dark red purple with a strong charred oak aroma, burnt coconut, the palate medium bodied and quite smoothly modulated, with slightly bitter grippy/chewy tannins to finish. Needs time or generous aeration.
