Product Details

The Howard Park Scotsdale Shiraz is a dense purple wine with a black heart yet brilliant clarity. It displays lifted intense blackberry and dark plum fruit aromas and spices: traces of cinnamon, clove and anise evolve as the wine opens up. The primary fruits are complemented by dark chocolate and mocha complexity which will develop with further cellaring. The palate focused and tight, a youthful expression of Frankland Shiraz displaying great concentration but also elegance. Fleshy sweet black fruits with underlying Dutch licorice and five spice fill the mid-palate. The classy tannins are layered, fine and powdery adding great persistence to the finish.

11/12/2014Deep red/purple colour. There are chocolate nuances on the shy bouquet, and the palate is full-bodied and smooth, with sweetly ripe fruit and ample tannins, which cleanse and firm up the finish. Good concentration, structure and depth of flavour. A very tasty shiraz to drink or cellar.

25/2/2015More vibrant and supple than the more northerly Leston with less concentration. I prefer this higher energy style. It is certainly more accessible with bright berry and spice flavours and yet shows considerable underlying power

20/1/2026A bouquet of seed spices, nutmeg and crushed nuts, generous aroma and flavour and a very elegant wine—lighter than the Leston of the same vintage—fine boned and beautifully balanced, drinking superbly right now.
