Product Details

Attractive notes of dark berries and plum supported by hints of licorice and a floral lift. Dark and brooding, tightly wound layers of rich black and blue fruits with hints of dark chocolate and spice, finishing long with savoury tannins. The Shiraz balances heavily concentrated fruits with elegance and winemaking finesse. The intensity, fine tannic structure and French oak influence make the Entity an exciting wine to visit now, whilst also displaying excellent cellaring potential.

John Duval is one of the world's best-known winemakers, coming from a family that boasts four generations of South Australian vignerons. He has been saluted many times on the world stage, notably International Winemaker of the Year in 1989 and twice Red Winemaker of the Year in 1991 and 2000. After 28 years with Penfolds, including 16 years as Chief Winemaker, John has created these stunning wines under the John Duval label, which has now welcomed second generation Tim on board. Utilising old vine Barossa fruit, the wines express the terroir of the Barossa and the hand-crafted attention of John Duval.

24/3/2022Ink black core, relaxing only slightly to a deep purple rim. Plums, dark chocolate and vanilla pods on the nose. Deep, powerful and brooding on the palate. Dark fruits, black olives and woody spices all coil around each other, vying for attention, leaning heavily into the savoury spectrum. The tannins bring a further sense of power with a firmness that suits, while still retaining a fine powdery texture. A serious food wine.

10/2/2025Deep ruby with purple tint at the rim. Mulberry, ironstone and nori on the nose. Palate has wonderful weight and intensity, plush purple and blue fruits are layered with ironstone minerality, dark chocolate oak notes and hints of black spices. Great length, tannins supple but driving it long and filling their roll well to the finish
