Huon Hooke
11/6/2013Deep, dark red colour, with faint purple tinge. Peppermint dominates the nose, and a hint of camphor. Spicy oak, and lots of it. Very lively, firm, tight and vibrant, not especially tannic, but very intense and vital, with energy to see it through another couple of decades. Very long and quite elegant in the mouth. Compact and vital, with the refreshing qualities often found in minty wines. It's less oaky in the mouth. Very good.

Huon Hooke
24/8/2013Deep, dark, dense red colour with a slight purple tint. Very oaky: the bouquet is dominated by toasty barrel nuances, with vanilla and oak-lactone sidelights. The same flavours dominate the palate. It's big and chewy, dense and oaky. A laboured and rather inelegant wine. Even at this age, it's all oak. It will never overcome over-oaking.
