Product Details

Stonewell Shiraz first made in 1987 has one guiding principle: to be Peter Lehmann’s best shiraz of vintage. The name Stonewell was chosen in recognition of the high quality shiraz grapes being grown around Stonewell Road in the Marananga district of the Barossa. While the winery owns a vineyard called Stonewell in this district, the grapes for Stonewell Shiraz are not limited to this one vineyard and come from individual growers in a number of Barossa sub-districts, particularly those to the west and the north where hard dry soils give rise to low-yielding shiraz of great quality. This limited release Stonewell shows a deep, black centre with loads of dark, plummy fruit and a touch of chocolate and aniseed. The palate is richly structured with fine tannins and a long, persistent finish ensuring that the wine will drink beautifully over the next 5-10 years if you can keep your hands off it that long. Colour: Deep and bright with a purple hue. Aroma: Black plum, blackberry and licorice. Palate: Full bodied, classic Stonewell with massive density and length. Classic blue and black fruits with ironstone and graphite tannins. A long life ahead, one of the all-time classic Stonewell's.

25/1/2023Ink black core with a deep purple rim. Blackberry, boudin noir and mint aromatics. Powerful and intense on the tongue with black and blue fruits in abundance. That said, there's as much intense black stone minerality and a smoked meat undertone that brings it all into balance. Tannins are ripe and grainy to control all the power presented to them, and it lingers for ages at the finish. A textbook Barossa shiraz that will cellar for many years

19/11/2024Blood red, opaque and inky. Heady aromas of satsuma plum, sweet charry oak, spice, graphite and black pudding. Dense, dark, deep and brooding in flavour. Plum, mulberry and dark cherry with lashings of oak, Asian spice, mocha and dried dark fruits. Firm and textured on the finish and with a decent acid kick. A big time Barossa brute.
