Product Details

Kym sources the fruit for Albert from gnarly Shiraz vines ranging from 45 to 90 years of age, which give this wine such richly concentrated fruit and intensity. There's abundance of sweet ripe black and blue berry fruit, smoked meats, chocolate and vanilla characters and oak that has been handled with precision.

Concentrated, supple and velvety in the mouth with a lovely sense of energy across the palate. Intense black berry fruits come to the fore with hints of deep-set baking spice, dried citrus peel, dark chocolate, polished leather, licorice and judicious dreamy oak. Intense but showing great tension between the ripe fruit, melt-in-the mouth tannins and bright acidity the wine finishes with great length and aplomb.

The Teusner Albert Shiraz is named after Kym's Grandfather, Albert Alfred Teusner and comes from parcels of fruit sourced from a couple of their favourite vineyards, one old block in the Barossa's North at Ebenezer and the other, again old vine material, at the Barossa's Southern most extremity at Williamstown.

13/4/2017Very deep, dense, concentrated red/purple/black colour. The bouquet is oaky, extractive and inky. It smells tannic! There is liberal oak and very ripe to slightly overripe fruit spectrum. The wine is very full-bodied and dense, thick textured and chewy, with masses of soft tannins and an electric vein of acidity running through it. A massive wine which is built around tannin. It demands time.

16/1/2026Dense, glass staining black-purple colour; there are oaky and superripe fruit aromas, lots of dark chocolate, the palate very big and brawny, with massive tannin and prune and raisin flavours that lead to a very dry finish that lacks a little in freshness. What it lacks in elegance it makes up in sheer guts.
