Product Details

A blend of 98% Shiraz and 2% Viognier made just prior to bottling, the latest RunRig vintage is a complete masterpiece. It kicks off with elegant notes of pencil shavings accenting blueberries and blackberries on the nose, then shows incredible, palate-staining intensity of fruit in the mouth. It’s full-bodied, plush and velvety without being unstructured and manages to be fruit-forward yet savoury on the long-lasting finish, where it picks up hints of mocha and black olives. It is the ideal accompaniment to roasted or grilled meats such as beef or venison, as well as hard cheeses such as cheddar and parmesan. 'Impressively deep, dark red/purple colour, with a bouquet of dried herbs, chaff, straw and black fruits. Viognier is not obvious as it is in the Descendant. It’s full-bodied and powerful, with abundant sandy tannins and some toasted-nutty oak influences. Coal-dust, graphite, earthy Western Barossa nuances are strongly evident. Dense, concentrated and compact, with a nicely complete, resolved structure and impressive elegance considering the hot year. Excellent wine.' - 97 Points | Huon Hooke.

16/9/2024Very deep, and quite youthful colour; the bouquet powerful, raisined and oaky, with a subtle high note of mint, while the palate is very full bodied, concentrated and powerful, with decadent richness and extract. A minster wine which is very good in its genre, but the oak leve is on the high side and there is a trace of overripeness in the fruit, not necessarily a fault. Has many years left in it.

26/8/2025Opaque, almost glass staining purple colour; sweety jammy and black fruited aromas, charred oak too. The wine is very ripe and very deep, concentrated and sumptuous in the mouth. The succulent sweet core is backed by abundant drying tannins. Sumptuous flavour and massive ripeness, the long aftertaste warmed by generous alcohol. There's a certain chewiness and slight bitterness that could be resolved by time or hearty protein.
