Product Details

The iconic Wolf Blass Black Label is not about individual regions or varieties, but rather about crafting the finest blend from South Australian vineyards. From the sensational 2013 vintage, this is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Malbec from the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Langhorne creek.

A Black Label nose through and through, with plenty of fragrant blackberry, cassis and dark plum fruits reinforced with roast coffee, chocolate, black liquorice and toasted nut complexity derived from maturation and barrel fermentation. The palate is rich, generous and complex, filled with sweet, ripe dark plum and blackcurrant fruit flavours layered with savoury secondary flavours of coffee and cedary oak.

1/5/2017Deep, dark, dense colour with considerable viscosity, the bouquet likewise concentrated and essency. There's been a lot of oak fed into this wine. Fruitcake and dark chocolate touches. It's very full-bodied and tannic, with massive flavour and tannin structure, somehow in balance, although it's nothing now compared to what it will be in a few years. A superb wine for the cellar.

12/4/2023Very deep, dark, dense red-purple colour; the bouquet is cedar and black fruits, some mocha/espresso coffee and fruitcake, the palate very full-bodied and rich, with lashings of tannins which are supple and fleshy, high-extract and long, the finish firmer and more grippy than either of the Grey Label reds or the Platinum Shiraz. A powerhouse of a wine that will richly reward long-term cellaring. Outstanding.
