Huon Hooke
3/4/2024Very deep, saturated purple colour with a powerful bouquet of fully ripe black fruits with oak clearly evident. Hints of black pepper and black tea, the palate medium-full bodied with a nicely balanced sheen of tannins supplying structure, and the finish rolls on quite long. A plush cabernet to either drink young or cellar. The style seems riper and richer than typical for this label.

Huon Hooke
3/4/2025Deep, bright, intense purple colour in the glass, the aromas no less fresh and bright, loaded with mulberry, blackberry and cherry-liqueur aromas. Crushed-leaf and raspberry too. The fruit is doing all of the talking. The wine is similarly sprightly and fresh on the tongue, with a little grip from the youthful tannins, which provide a solid but neatly tailored grip on the back-palate and aftertaste. It's very youthful and primary: a very herbal style of cabernet. Nice now, but a little cellar-time would work wonders.

*Wine Rank: #22 of 78 - 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon from South Australia
