Product Details

This is the smart Australian sparkling you need to go to rather than a cheaper French import. Vanilla, nougat and exotic spices on the nose, followed by a palate bursting with lychee, truffle and cinnamon flavours, this is a complex, elegant wine. Australian sparkling has come a long way in the past decade, but this is a wine that really excites us.

7/4/2011Smoky meringue-like pinoty bouquet, with more intensity and greater length than the Bay of Fires. It's also leaner, tighter and finer, while it remains accessible - soft, open and easy drinking while relatively young.

7/4/2011Light yellow, silage vegetal Tasmanian aromas; macaroon, meringue aromas; very clean and fruit-driven. Citrus/lemon. Tangy, lean, lemon/citrus flavours; bracing acidity too. Clean, dry finish.

11/2/2013Medium to full burnished yellow colour. Slightly sour sulfidic aroma at first, with a suggestion of oak. The same sourness is present on the palate. The wine is edgy and rather acidic, and it's hard to get past that rather objectionable pong. A day later, much better! The wine is transformed. The disagreeable aromas have gone and are replaced by complex nutty, bready and nougat characters while the palate is full, rich and round with quite evident sweetness, but this is in balance for what is a more commercial sort of wine than the great EJ Carr Late Disgorged wines - which are much drier.

24/8/2013Light straw-yellow colour. Mellow creamy bouquet with hints of pineapple and creamed hazelnuts. Remarkably youthful for its age. Fresh, zesty acidity and a lively palate structure. Fine bubbles, and a long carry. (6 years on lees; based on 2006 vintage)

9/9/2014Light straw-yellow hue and a lightly toasty, straw bouquet showing a little aged complexity. The flavour is full and voluminous, dry and clean and fresh through the palate and on the finish. A very crisp, clean and intense wine which would make a great aperitif.

9/3/2015Waxy, smoky yeastiness, the palate plain but soft and balanced. Nice wine, easy drinking. Obvious but well-judged sweetness.

9/3/2015Straw-like aroma, the fruit is obvious here. A young wine, chardonnay-ish, lean and delicate and refined. Meringue. Nice balance and fresh mouth-feel, long carry. Very good line.

13/11/2015Based on the 2008 vintage, a very good one. Fine, rich and complex, with a stack of flavour for a wine of its price. Intense lemon juice, savoury straw and slightly smoky aromas. Zesty lemony acidity. The complex bouquet includes nougat-like aromas. Great value for money. (5 years on lees; 60/40 pinot noir/chardonnay)

9/2/2017Steely, minerally aromas, a trace of sulfide, the palate straightforward and soft, nicely balanced and quite fine. Sulfides are the only hiccup.
