Fiano is quickly proving itself be the most exciting of the emerging white varieties in this country and the Clare Valley is no exception. Showing all the quality hallmarks that the wine is known for. Almost Riesling-like in some ways, but with a texture more akin to Chardonnay.
Hesketh Fiano is very pale lemon in colour, with a nose of apricot kernels, spices (the merest whiff of white pepper amongst them?) and nuts, with a solid backing of minerality. Some peach notes emerge as well. There is a pleasing flick of acidity and good piercing length. Nice balance for the full length of the wine, and solid concentration. This is delicious now, no need to cellar.
4/1/2023Very light yellow-green hue with a discreet and fresh straw-hay aroma, the taste crisp and straightforward, bone-dry and savoury, with refreshing properties including crisp acidity
*Wine Rank: #15 of 23 - 2022 Fiano from South Australia
