Predominantly from the Gomersal and Kalimna sub-regions of the Barossa providing real texture and richness to the palate. Dense, dark plum, black pepper, spices and bacon rind are all perfectly supported with a dark core of ripe blackberries, leather and earth. The palate is all about texture and combines richness and purity of fruit with subtle notes of olive tapenade, saddle leather and spice. Brooding and densely packed, this lavish wine has ample generosity to cellar for many years, where it will slowly unravel its beguiling riches.
16/2/2021Very deep, dark red/purple colour, with a bouquet that shouts north-western Barossa: graphite, ironstone, fresh-turned earth, savoury and complex. The wine is very full-bodied, and strongly built: the carpentry is impressive (that's structure, not oak). Superbly rich, fleshy and sustained through a very long palate and follow-through. It shapes up like a whopper but the tannins are supple and fine, smooth and not at all forbidding as we might have anticipated. Excellent. (30% new French oak. Northern & Western Barossa grapes)

15/5/2025High-octane notes of vanilla bean, licorice, blackberry jam and rose oil welcome with arms wide open. The palate is plush yet structured: red and black berries anchor the wine while a firm line of salted licorice-like tannins offsets the ripe flavours and girdles the masses of fruit. While the tannins are firm, they're also very fine, leaving a wake of chalkiness. It's a sleeper, everything is in its place, and there's freshness to set this full-bodied shiraz up for a lavish lifestyle. Patience is needed
